    Hey guys,

I'm brand new here. Was looking around for some help on the net and found your site, so I am hoping one of you experts can help me out.

I have a 1988 Mustang GT Convertible. My wife got me the Alpine unit and had it installed about 6 months ago and I love it. Well, needless to say, convertibles are not the best when it comes to good sound reproduction. So, I bought this amp a few weeks back. It's a 4-channel amp and is currently connected to my stereo via the rca cables. Everything is fine so far.

Now for the help. I have a 12in sub I want to mount in my trunck, to get more bass out of my system, but since the 4 channels from my amp are already connected to my head unit, I'm not sure how to hook up the sub.

This is all very confusing to me, so any assistance would be most appreciated

    Thanks:)

Um...you can rewire the amp to run all speakers on the front channels and bridge the rear channels for the sub...but what the impedance load.

Or the better route...is to buy another amp dedicated to the sub.

Buy the way...if you could list the model number and specs of the amp and sub.

according to what ive read that HU has a 2 preamp outputs, a front, and a rear/sub output. You can do this one of 3 ways in my opinion...

One get a set of rca ys use your fronts rca hook ups connect the ys to them and use the fronts to power your front and rear speakers, the problem with this will be loss of fade from front to back.

Two buy a sub amp that has rca ins and outs, use your rear rcas on the hu to connect to the amp and then get another set of rcas to run from the sub amp outs to the rear ins on your speaker amp

Three buy a line adapter that will turn a set of speaker wires into rcas. Use your front rcas for your fronts on you amp, use your rear rcas on your hu for your sub amp, and use the adapter to branch off of your rear speaker wires and give you a set of rca rears, then connect a set of rcas from the adapter to your 4 channel amp rear ins.

BEST solution is to buy a HU that has 3 sets of outputs one for front one for rear and one for sub

First off, does the amp take speaker level inputs? If it does then you can use the signal from the regular speaker wires to send to your amp. Im not sure if you can use the rear RCA and speaker levels at the same time but if you can you can then use the RCA as the sub signal.

    is the amp bridgeable?

is another amp purchase (along with the sub) out of the question?
    what alpine HU?
