I'm going to be honest, I have no idea about anything car audio-related. My current stereo is a Kenwood that was in the car when I bought it. It's starting to have shaky functionality, no longer accepts cds, and doesn't have iPod connectivity. I decided I should buy a new one, but I'm not sure what exactly I need.

I plan to upgrade my speakers in the future, which are now the factory ones. I want the stereo to be able to play music well through some entry level aftermarket speakers and a subwoofer. It also needs to have iPod connectivity. My car is a 2003 Dodge Neon. I'd really rather not spend over $150, but if I have to I can shell out $200.

    Any recommendations?

well you wont be playing subwoofers through the head unit, you will need a amplifier if you want to play subs. You can look at crutchfield .com for headunits, they give really good descriptions, then when you find one you like you can shop around for a cheaper price. Look at a small amp and maybe a 10 inch woofer just to get you started.
