These bad boys run the same engine as the Corvettes...I'd love to roll one of these on some 20's

Anyone ever owned one before? I think I could probably find one for somewhere around 17k...it'll take plenty of saving..but eventualy...I'd like this to be my next car...nice big step up from my 91 Mercury Grand Marquis

    Ahhh...a guy can dream can't he?:D

    :uzi: :rice:

they may run the same engine that Corvettes do... DID rather. They don't currently come with that engine, obviously. C4 vettes are sexy. They came with FOUR catalytic converters... It's just an LT1 in them. Striker has an LT1 but it's not a VETTE ENGINE. The Vette's cam is different from the tamer one thats in these engines. Currently the Corvette Z06 uses the LS6 engine, which is just the LS1 (346cid) with better aluminum heads, creating 405 horsepower.

You know, the 84 (?) corvette came with the 350 cross-fire injection (a whopping what, 180 horsepower?) but thats nothing to brag about. OOH I HAVE A VETTE ENGINE IN MY CAR SWEEET :)

Dude, you might as well have just said "Bla bla bla bla, bla bla, bla bla bla bla!" :D

I'm not a big car buff, but I do know that those Impala's...while i'm sure lacking most of the mods done to the engine in the vetts of that year...run the same basic engine as they did.

I also know they are some quick fuckin cars, i've riden in one before and they really get up and go... they require some kind of higher MPH tire or something that run like 145 dollars a piece which is why my dad's friend sold his...go figure...

I'm not sure on any of the specs or anything but they are most def sharp looking

Yeah, those years are definately much sharper than the new ones. The new Impalas look like a fucking Malibu, which aint too great. When I saw 'em I was like:wtf: they really screwed that one up.

um.....he sold an impala ss b/c he couldnt afford z rated tires...

    no comment on that

you dont NEED z rated tires. they are expensive b/c they stay together at speeds around 150mph and dont tear to shreads.

you can run any type of tire as long as it fits the wheel properly.

I actually had thought of selling my 79 Trans Am and buying around a 95 LT1 firebird.... But from what i've seen....they are expensive to build up.

Older cars are ALOT cheaper do to the lack of eletronics

but newer cars are Cheaper to mantian most of the time so it is a toss up

Personaly I am taking my 1984 Camaro and REMOVING all computers from it by putting ina older eng, tranny combo,

if it was not soo much work I would put a richmond 6speed in it but I am settling for the 700R4(good enough for me)

I want to get a Built up 700R4 but them damn things get expensive for the one I want

    Why

the 70-81 T/A were the Best

77-78 were the cream of the crop though for the body style

the New Fbody suck any thing after the 3 generation sucks,

the 4th and 5th gen are worthless thus the reason they are being DROPPED by GM

    I agree...
And personally, in a massive behemoth like that, the prospects of going even 120 or 130 are downright scary...
Not that the car can't do it..
But the car CAN'T do any sort of emergency avoidance.. swerving, braking... all out of the question in a panic mode...
It's like riding a missle at that point... I would not be piloting that car that fast...

Think about the momentum... think about the lift... think about the reduced traction (Z-rated tires or not)...
    No thank you!

I would take an Impala though, i just wouldnt' drive it that fast...
Same reasons I wouldn't drive a giant cube-van that fast, even if it could do i...

That year impala is nice though...
And $145 per tire sounds downright reasonable to me.. I know my friend ends up spending about $200 each for his Z28's tires (SS size)...

Please. Obviously you buy an f-body for speed right? Lets see, how many Pre 4th gen are faster than me stock for stock. A few. The special ones, with the 396, etc.. And those are rare.

    The older f-bodies are SLOW

    we are not talking stock

    let see,

1994 Firebird is what 9K or so

I can buy a 1980 for $500 Put about 3500 in it and Blow you out of the water top end and off the line with out question and still be 5K under your cars price, and I bet I turn more heads going down the street then you do:p

Where do cops drive 94-96 Impala's?????????

the police Package was not started till 98-99, and those imala's are TOTALLY differant than the 94-96 ones

I love the fact they have the Puny V6's. My Camaro will just laugh at them

    hehe

Geo...I SERIOUSLY doubt that i'd ever want to drive the thing that fast either, it would be like suiside =P

In any case...if I can figure out some way to work up the cash this will more the likley be my next car...I've always wanted one since I first saw my dad's friends (the moron that sold it because of the tires  )

Maybe by the time i've saved up the 12-15k the prices will go down a little :D
