do to space restrictions, we will only have about 1/2 inch of clearance behind the 10 that we want to use we are thinking of going to an 8 or two 8's. Can somebody tell me what my ears will hear different between two 8's compared to one 10. The subs in question are both Alpine type R's. Thanks, Ron
the 2 8's will be louder.. and have tight bass.. but prolly wont hit the low notes as well as the ten would... not a big fan of alpine subs though
thanks, havent heard alot of different subs, the rest of the system is alpine so figured we would stay the course.
the 2 8's will have more cone area as one 10... 2 8's = 100 square inches.. 1 10 will be 75 . yo most likely won't hear a difference with the same power. An 8 will play just as low as a 10. i had 4 8's in my jimmy that played down to 25HZ. its all in the box and sub as to how low it can play. i've also heard 21's with "tight" bass.
Pedro is correct. Extension has nothing to do with piston size. Enclosure determins extension and output. Two 8s would have more cone area though as stated above, which has potential to be louder.
