Wanted for 2006 Taurus, Will be pushed by Eclipse 5422 4 channel amp, sub amp will be either a Hifonics 1205D or Crossfire CFA1000d pushing a very old Kicker L7 dual 2 ohm wired to 1 ohm. I am used to listening to Oz audio CS series or Focal Polyglas but my budget wont allow me to purchase these, any ideas for good sounding speakers?

you could always make an adapter plate to put in some round comps. i know you can fit a 6.5 in there.

if not then all i can say is im happy with my polks and my infinity's sound nice and smooth too.

    my personal experience.

    JBL's also sound very nice.

Your right Pedro, you can fit a 6.5 in there, I have the 6.5 Focal comps in my Sable. What Polks do you have, the DB or MM series and how much power do you have going to them?

Are they comps or coax? How is the midbass, I will only be running one sub so I would like some speakers with good midbass. I was looking at some on Crutchfield, they were 6x8 and were the DB series. They were like 50 dollars and are a direct fit for my car.

they were coax, but i took out the tweets. the mid bass isnt bad at all.

oooh i bet those 6x8 db's would sound good in there. more cone area and all.

How exactly do you remove the tweeter? Do you have the tweeters on their own xover? I didnt think about the extra cone area, I think ill get those, at least for the front and try them out before I get the set for the rear. Besides I dont have to build a baffle, just screw them in. For 50 dollars I really cant go wrong.

the tweets just screw off. i had to cut the wires from the cap, and out they came.

i ended up hot glueing them in with my infinity plates where my infinty tweets were. they had next to no output so i cut em out. so now i have an infinity 4" with a 1" polk tweet.

it sounded ok but i unhooked them cause my polk db 1000 tweets sound good with out them. i got those for 35 on ebay, new! so now i have 8 speakers up front and my 4 8's in back. no rear fill either.
