hows everyone doin i got a question i need help with really fast so i dont blow my subs. okay i have a rf punch 500a2 amp the amp says it does 250x2@ 2ohms and says it does 500x1 at 4ohms my speaker is a jl12w3-2 a 2ohm sub is there any way i could get the 500 watts to the sub even though it says 500x1 at 4ohms. thanks alot for the help
the w3 will handle more power easily. Though its the amp that's the concern. If its not stable at 2 ohms bridged there is potential it will thermal overload. Its hard to say how much power it will try to draw from the amp, my guess would be no more than its dynamic rating of 710 watts. Unofficially speaking from experience, i think you'll be just fine. I have put 1000 watts to my W3 before for a while. I have also driven an oldschool punch amp at 2ohms bridged too and it was fine. for the 4 ohm load you need another 2 ohm sub wired in series. then the amp will see 4 ohms and you'll be safe on both. as it is, you'll be pushing both beyond manufacturer recomendation
