I there a diffence in sound quality or any other important effect? I know lower Ohms allows more watts but is that the only effect?
are you talking about running a dvc sub at 2 or 4 ohms, or talking about buying 2ohm or 4 ohm subs? either way.. It mainly has to do with what impedance you can run your amp at. I have 8ohm dvc subs, and run the amp at 2ohms the amp is only 2 ohm stable, so I stick with the 2 ohm load.
Audible difference - nope, technicaly some will argue you can. I can't though. Allow more watts - nope, You may ( not always) get more power out of your amp. But that's because of the lower impedance load on the amp. only difference is what load the amp sees.
WEll if your trying to get more power out of your amp try seeing what voltage you can jump your amp to most do 16 some do up to 17 if you send more voltage to it. this will allow more power at bigger amprage
But you got to be careful, And isolate the rest of the vehicles electronics from the extra voltage . Some amps run fine with 16v or more. But most cars don't
im not a expert when it comes to installs i need help wireing a kicker l7 15 woofer 2 ohm to a 800.1 amp how do i wire it to get all the 800 watts
Dual 2 ohm or Dual 4 ohm coils? What is the minimum impedance load that amp can handle? What is the model and specs of the amp? You could make a new thread about this and not threadjack this but we'll answer your questions anyway.
