I'm still in the process of figuring out how to calculate ohms and figuring the wattage of subs when combined. I just got three pioneers which I'm putting into a power wedge box with three 10" spaces. This box has one set of terminal cups as well. http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-TS-W257D4-Inch-Subwoofer-Watts/dp/B000LYABIG/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_1. (See the link for the sub and specs) They are dual voice coils, 4ohms and I'm loading them into that box in a series. I was wondering, when combined how many ohms they will be, if it's ok to run them off a 2 channel amp that's bridged, and if so, how many watts that amp should be when bridged. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
-I don't know if the link works as I was logged in under a user name. But they are pioneer TS-W257D4 10 Inch subwoofers that can handle 1000 Watts, and they push 350 rms. Sorry if the link did not work.
do you have an amp already that you plan on using? also you dont have to run the speakers rms power rating.
I don't have an amp in mind yet. I wanted to make sure everything would go accordingly so that I wouldn't spend any unneeded money on something that I might not want. Do you think a 2000 watt amp (2000 watts after it's been bridged) would be sufficient?
thats a lil overkill but if your car can handle the electrical load then sure. what vehicle is this going in?
I'm really not sure how much wattage I'll need. It's not going into any vehicle anytime soon, but if it was it would be my 1994 nissan altima gxe.. a sad sad car. At the moment I'm running 2 12" inch versions of these speakers in a ported box at 2000 watts.
it's a 2000 watt lanzar 2 channel. I'm planning on putting them in my new car when I get it. The subs that I have currently are hooked up to a switch through the remote wire so that I may turn them off very quickly. It also has a decibal control device. I'm planning on getting the exact same thing for the set of three 10's and being able to switch one off and one on to hit those high notes when my twelves just wont do.
by decibel control do you mean a bass vol knob? so you plan on running 3 10's and 2 12's off the same amp? you may want to think about running a sealed box. they will sound good with just about any type of music. cause running two diff enclosures off of the same amp and wanting to run one or the other set of subs will throw your ohm load off. since your not too familiar with wiring yet you could fry your amp.
oh, no. I'm buying another amp and cap for the three tens. most likely the same exact amp tho. Thanks tho, I definitely wouldn't want that.
my point was choose one or the other not both. 2 diff enclosures in the same car tend to not sound good. ive seen it before. not a good mix.
yea. I was curious to how it might sound with the bass control for both being able to adjust them. I'm sure you're right tho. I'll probably try it regardless just to see. But I'll also have a switch through each remote wire to turn one on and one off, so it'll be fine either way I look at it. Oh, and I do have a sealed box too.
