Hi guys i need help. I just purchaced a 2007 Chevy Aveo SVM and am going to redo the enitre system HU/speakers/amp/subs. anyway i cannot find ANY credible info. Crutchfield tells me that the car has 4" speakers front and back, best but says 61/2" all around. I've been told by installs that there isn't a wiring harness made yet, Crutchfield says they have one, same with mounting kit. I'd like to know the depth of the radio, i'd like to put in a new radio that is 6.5" deep, but wanna make sure i have enough room . . . so iguess what i'm asking for is if anyone has any experience with a new Aveo? Anyone have any connections you can call and find out? I tried calling GM and they were absolutely no help, so any info at this point would be helpful . . . thanks everyone

Hi, i did a quick search, not sure but i think you have 4x6 in the back and 5 inch in the doors then separate tweeters also in the doors. This might get you a little further!
The factory deck has an ipod plug and it also plays mp3, looks like a descent deck, maybe just bypass the factory amp and put a nice amp and box for the trunk.

How about you take ALL of the guess work out and just remove the panels and see for YOURSELF what size speakers you have

WOW way to flame everyone else in thread, well done. I'm sure they will thank you for that. Thank you to electro for being helpful, but for some reason azn thinks your thoughts are unintelligent  I like how you describe measuring a speaker as "your way" like you are the first person to ever come up with the idea and as i said i am going to be doing that I was just looking for some backround info. Yes i can read a ruler, and so can you because you are reading my posts as i rule your arse! :lmfao:

PS...you lemme know how the apples are, rumor is your the expert on fruits

Pretty much everyone here knows me and knows how i am so i'm not worried.

But for the front doors...what you can do is take that whole assembly out. The speaker AND the mounting adapter. Then you can prolly fit a 5.25 or 6.5 inch speaker in there.

May have to fabricate some MDF mounting rings though

back speakers look like 4x6's...there are many aftermarket speakers that size

ya i saw that about the front speakers too, i'm gunna go back and pull the whole assembly and take a measurement. i was hoping for something round in back because i wanted to put components back there cause they face straight up into the top of the hatch, so i was going to put the tweeter on the door of the hatch so they would fire back to the front of the car . . . azn all in good fun ^_^

you can do 4" comps up front like i did. I had stock plain 5" speakers.. cant fit 5.25" so I used 4" comps with an adaptor. The rear you can do 4x6 which there are many speakers that size out there to replace it with.

do you plan on amping your highs or just doing them off the HU? what kinda price range you looking at for your speakers maybe i can look a few up.

Yeah...I do this crap with my friends all the time...one day we'll be at each others throat and fightin then after a beer we're all good.

You don't need components for the rear...4x6's will do fine for rear fill. If you want some good sound than you want it coming from the front.

You don't go to a concert and face away from the stage do you??

dunno about the fronts yet. wanna do comp for sure but looking for about $100 pair. also i'm not sure about amping the the int speakers yet. The HU i have picked has surround sound decoder but have to have an amp to hook it up is it with it? does any one have surround sound? then i'd need a center speaker to put somewhere and what amp should i get if the surround sound is worth it?

as far as the front guys I was looking into a lot of 4" components. MB Quart makes a lot of choices in that size and MTX has a couple that I liked as well. DIamond Audio does make a few 4" comps too if you wanted to keep the same company.

Can you get those subs in a dual 4 ohm config so you can just wire them to 1ohm to a mono block.

Ya i can get those subs in dual 4ohm,

interesting idea about getting a seperate amp fro each sub. The reason i want to go with the amp sub combo i have laid out is because i designed a system for someone and used that setup and was very pleased with it. I am kicking around the seperate amp idea though. it's not all that much more money. the amps wouldn't need to work as hard, and the style points would be more too :D all i would have to do on that is get the 4 ohm and bridge to each amp right?

Any thoughts on the 5.1 surround though? is this something that i should really try to do? does it make a huge difference? and like i said before i would then be forced to amp out the interiors and i don't have a limitless budget.

For the doors it seems that the choice for 4" comps are slim. I'm going to take the door pannel off again and see hoe big of an opening there is if i take off the whole assembly. If i can fit 5.5s i'll have alot more options fro the doors.
