I just finished converting my 2001 GMC yukon's 1.5 din to a double din. i was nervous about doing this job but it came out way better than i expected. if anyone is looking to do this its alot easier than it looks. i stated by taking the whole dash bezel out of the truck. this is easy and takes no time at all. pretty much just pull on the bezel. i then brought it in side because its too cold out here in the north east. i bought an install kit for a single din radio for the truck. i broke out the dremel and cut the install kit so i had just the side pieces. this took some skill full cutting and shaping but it came out nice. i then bolted the cut up install kit onto the head unit fora mock up in the truck. i made sure the bottom of the new head unit was at the same height as the factory head unit. once i had everything right where i wanted it i took the head unit out and lined it up with the bezel. i put the bottom of the head unit so it was resting against the bottom of the bezel and marked how much of the bezel that needed to be cut out. again i used the dremel with a small cutting wheel and put along my measurements. i then used the sanding wheels to take the last few mm's off. this worked great because its easy to take a little at a time off. i then shaped the cut so it looked factory with the sanding wheel. once it was all shaped it all went in the truck. ill post some pics of the project later today. it came out great and looks very factory.
