alright i have a 1992 astro ext gladiator conversion van with a 4.3L V6 that guzzles down gas like you wouldn't believe. now there is a pretty good chance that my dad will give me my step sisters car being a 2001 mercury sable. its nice as hell, 24v 3.0L duratec, all leather, premium sound, 6 disc changer. i plan on just throwin in a sub and amp. 130k miles. but i just changed the brakes for her and the car is solid. so enough talkin about the car lets get to the system. i want to leave the mach sound system for now. it sounds pretty good and for amplified 6x9s it gets down on the beats son. haha anyways. will i need to use a an LOC for the sub stage? if i put in a new HU then what will i need to tie it all into the mach system? now that i realize it this should be in the general car audio, can someone move it please
to keep your expenses down G3 just get a soundgate loc for now. Never worked with the mach audio system so i really wouldn't know what to say. I do think the mach has an amp but if you're going to drop a new HU lyk you would in any other car. I don't think you'll have any problems
I have the same car, 2001 sable LS Premium with the same motor. First of all it does not get very good mileage, I average 17 mpg with everyday driving. Driving to Vegas and back i got about 25 mpg. The second thing is if you have the electronic climate controls there are no dash kits available so you would need to use a LOC with the factory HU. The 3rd thing is the trunk opening is very small, the trunk itself is very large but getting a decent size box into it is a challenge. I 1st tried 2 PPI 12s in a ported box but coundnt get it in. Tried it in a smaller sealed box, it fit but didnt sound good. Now I have my Kicker L7 in a custom built box off of a 1500 watt Hifonics amp. I have Focal Polyglas 6.5 comps up front and 6x8s in the rear deck off of a Hifonics 4 channel amp. It comes stock with a 130 amp alt so ist pretty good to start with. The car is a lot of fun to drive, it will smoke most ricers in stock form without even trying but it. You will enjoy the look on the face of the ricer when they realize they just got killed by a car their grandma probably drives.
dont the rear seats fold down? i havent really looked. and ya it does get up and go. pretty easy to get it over 300hp to with some mods here and there. good news on the alternator though. but i'll tell ya what i know it gets better gas mileage than my van does. plus liability should be a little bit cheaper since i cant haul 10 people.
yes the back seat do fold down but no way to fit a large box in there. Make sure you measure before buying or building. I thought it would be the same as my wifes Taurus so I tried to use the box out of her car, it fits in the Taurus but not is the Sable, go figure. Same trunk volume but the opening is way smaller.
well dunno if im gonna get it now cause my step mom is buying a new house and cant put a new car in her name at the time for my step sister. so for now i have a vehicle that i can wall off and compete with but dont have the cash for not too mention its hard to keep her runnin with gas and all. but who knows whats gonna happen. im hopeful.
