2000w Amp what kind of wiring kit do I need?

Discussion in 'Car Stereo Amplifiers' started by broker_boy417, Feb 16, 2009.

  1. I'm ordering two Pioneer TS-W257D4 10" Dual 4-Ohm 1000W subs and a Boss CX950 2-Channel 2000W CHAOS EXXTREME Series amp. I already have a wiring kit installed in my Jeep Liberty. I can't remember what wattage the kit is but what size wires am I gonna need for that large of an amp?

x2 on that. you're going to need 1/0 awg wiring for that.

8 Gauge wire will be more than enough for that amp. Why you might ask?

Because that amp is a piece of crap MAYBE puts out 350 watts rms.

Do you really think you are going to get 2000 watts from an amp that costs 130 dollars??

a quality mono amp that puts out 1000-1200 watts costs an average 300 dollars. Get real young padawan.

lol i did see that but as soon as he realizes that the amp is not as good as it claims. he would have been ready (wiring wise) for a new amp.

My guess is that the kid can't afford a real amp that requires 0 gauge wiring...YET. But for now the price different between 0 gauge and 8 gauge is much more cost effective for 8 gauge when it will be MORE THAN ENOUGH for this amp.

  8. wow ya'll are a bunch of dick heads why does it matter what brand amp i get? i'm payin for it so its none of your business

They are tryin to say that the amp your getting doesnt require a lot of power because it doesnt put out a lot of watts. Its up to you how you spend you money, but azn was just talking about how that amp doesnt put out 2000 watts.

i didnt mean any disrespect by my 2nd comment. it just that BOSS makes a low quality product.

your right it is your decision to buy what ever you wish. good luck with the amp install. i hope it gives you the power you want.

we're not dickheads. lol. All we're saying is that amp isn't good and you could get a better amp. Okay, how much is your budget for an amp and we can help you find a better one. Boss amps are not good at all, the price is tempting but you get what you pay for so i would advise against you throwing your money away on it.

Let us know what your budget is and we'll help you find a decent amp in your price range...

really . he's right about the quality. i was louder with a low power high quality amp than some guys at shows with low quality "high powered" amps and bigger subs.

at one show i was 2.5 db louder with one 10" kicker on 250~280 watts than this guy with 3 mismatched subs and a "2000 watt" 150 dollar amp.

he was ****ed to say the least.

    im just saying....

I'm louder than a lot of people in town, I have done ALL my stuff on a really low budget too. I have spent about $250 on what's in my car now.

say what you want OP but if you can't take any constructive criticism than you need to learn.

You can buy it if you want but don't expect more than 400 watts out of it and come back crying about why your amp sucks.

    bravo people.

  16. WHY SO SERIOUS? They are right about Boss amps, I was fooled into buying one years back it claimed to be 600watts and really puts out 150wx2 @4 Ohms. I still have it and will be using it for my components until I can find a reasonable 4 channnel amp. If your looking for power dont go with it you can do better just get advice from multiple sources.
