hello. am somewhat new to subs and all and was curious which would be better to get. I can get 4 MA's or 2 kicker cvr's for about the same price. I know ma's aren't the best from what research I've done around the forum and also the enclosure has a lot to do with it. my main goal is loudness and didn't know if the four lower end subs would be better for me than the two better subs. thanks for the help.
i dont know much about the MAs but my friend has 2 CVRs in a pefab sealed box and its pretty niceif possible u should listen to he 2 u have in mind
In almost every case 4 will be louder than two. But just keep in mind how much room 4 subs will take up.
that's what I was thinking about the four being louder and do understand the space issue. just didn't know if there would be a noticable difference being kicker is a good sub.
I'm not going to go with prefab boxes. I will be making them myself as to assure the proper air space required.
not sayin you should go with one cause i tell my buddy all the time to let me build him one what would you be putting the 4 12s in? im sure what ever you chose sould be good just make sureyou post pics of the build
not sure if you mean vehicle or box. im going to put them in mits. galant. prob gonna make boxes out of 3/4 birch plywood because i like the look of wood with a light stain. I made a friend of mine one and connected the two boxes with a piece of wood squared off in between them for an amp mount. Looked nice in my opinion. better than carpet. the wood is kinda expensive for a sub. cabinet but i come across it all the time on jobs.
kool i have a 2002 galant right now with RF punch P315 in it and it hits hard just want more lol so im gonna be upgrading to the 18" elemental designs 19Ov.2 very soon prolly order it next week its a pain in the ass gettingthe box in because of how the truck opening is made atleast it waas for me and my box is only about 3.5 cuft but please post pics of the build i would love to see what you do to your galant
kewl deal i'll do that. my galant is 03 and im prolly gonna go with sealed boxes. specially if i go with the four ma's. just dont know which way to go yet.
sealed??? I'd rather do 2 ported than 4 sealed. I hate sealed...There is huge difference in sealed. I just had my JL 12W6 in a 1 cu ft sealed box...output was weak...SQ was pretty good. Then I put it in this ABC box I built. Output is like ten times louder...ppl think there is a single 15 in the back....loud as hell for 400 watts and a single 12. Sound quality is still good.
i figured the ported would be a little louder than the sealed. Thing is im wanting to have a little trunk space left when im done lol. im trying to put the best system i can together for about 400 which is why im asking about the speakers cause ican get either set for about 200. and then i gotta find an amp.
well...what MA subs are you talking about??? Two 12s ported takes up about the same room if not less than 4 12's sealed
have you looked into a combo set up. CADENCE BASS PACKAGE * 12" SUB + BOX + AMP + WIRES * - (eBay item 250156652824 end time Aug-30-07 17:00:00 PDT) cadence makes a nice product NEW ALPINE PLV-7 CAR AUDIO SUBWOOFERS POWERED ENCLOSURE - (eBay item 300143655184 end time Aug-27-07 14:38:05 PDT) this i heard sound awsome too. Parts Express:MTX RT10X3A Road Thunder 10" Tri-Sub Loaded Enclosure these guys with about 400 watts will also pound. 400 for 4 12's a box built, and and amp and install kit is not a very realistic price.unless you built the box and know exactly what they need.then maybe. i have a kicker in a prefab(made for that sub by kicker)with 350 watts and it will hit just as hard as the next guy. unless your dead set on four 12's.
MA120XE is the model for the MA's. instead of the 2 cvr 12's what about 2 cvr 15's vs. the 4 ma's. i can get them pretty close to the same price so it comes down to the better set up. and what amp would you recommend to drive the better set, for 200 bucks? thanks.
not really dead set on anything just want the loudest sound i can get for around 4-450. whether it means 4 12" subs or two whatever. And yes i do plan on building the box myself something similar to the way i stated on the first page.
yeah they still do...except they require some larger than normal box sizes. Elemental Designs Thing is that they don't have much excursion...but they make up for that in sensitivity...you only need like 100-200watts per sub to make them perform well. Four of these ported would pound pretty good.
