well this is my first post in this forum.. and while searching for components for a budget first system i came across a pyle amp which is rated at 350 watts rms at 2 ohm with 4 channels.. And this got me thinking. If i can get an amp like that for £130 which is cheaper then a mono amp giving me 300 watts rms at 2 ohm then why not get that amp. But then what would i do with the three extra channels that would be free.. so i thought why not have 4x300 watt rms subs. these being 12" subs. from alpine. total cost of everything including the boxes and wiring is £600. That is 4 12" subs. 4 enclousers and 1 amplifier. and for about £100 more then that price i can get a 12" subwoofer rated at 1200watts rms and 1 1200watt rms amp. so my question is am i better of with that extra £100 spent and 1 sub and amp or should i go for the 4 subs and 1 amp and save the £100. I mean 1200 watts is 1200 watts after all. will it make a difference if its coming from 4 subs instead of 1. ofcourse this is assuming that the subs are all in sealed enclousers of the correct size. Bit of a long winded way of asking a question but yeah. Please do tell me what you think. O and i am in the UK that is why i am pricing in £ instead of $. Thanks
If you have the room four 4 subs, i would go that route. I would much rather see all that power divided amongst 4 speakers instead of beating the hell out of 1 sub. Besides, with 4 speakers, you will get more gain due to acoustic coupling, better low frequency response, and less cone breakup at high levels. just to name a few. Overall it would be a better sounding system as far as the dub bass goes. But remember, speaker cabinet construction is key in makeing the subs perform properly, you make the wrong box, and it will sound "wanky" (darned brits and their sayings! )
hey man thanks for the help. The main reason i wanted to go the 4 sub route is that i could spread out buying the subs instead of having to spend all that much money at one time. I could kind of add a sub at a time. I have a toyota carina with a very large boot which will never be used for anything other then subs anyway. I have the back seat to throw my junk on for the short trips and we have the family car for family stuff. so yea im good for space. Great i will go for the 4 sub route then. Any other comments would be great. Thanks alot mate for your help
Don't buy anything Pyle, Audiobahn, Boss Audio, Lanzar...or other crappy manufacturers...discuss what you wanna buy with us before you buy pieces of crap...sorry...Pyle is just SH!T
Thanks for the heads up mate. Just wondering tho what is wrong with Pyle. You know, for curiousity sake. I do realise ofcourse that it is a 4000watt amp and it only gives out about 350 watts but 350watts is all im expecting it to give out.
I'd expect less than 200 per channel from it Pyle is very cheap...you get what you pay for...it'll break within a week Go for it...I'd wait and save up
Like i said man thanks for the heads up. What are your views on orion amps? Aparently they are supposed to be good. But that is just what their website is saying. So obviously going to be biased. Any views on their monoblock?
OLD SCHOOL ORION!!!!! Thats where its at! I dont have any experience with the new stuff, maybe it sucks, I dont know, maybe it kicks ass, hard to tell. If you could find a nice old 2150 SX, or 250 HCCA, that would be the way to go, even the ol 225 HCCA would waste that pyle amp, hell, it w ould waste half the amps on the market today! IMO!
Here in the states pyle is something that you buy at a swapmeet. Its junk. They live up to there name pyle of #$#%#. Orion is pretty good stuff, the older amps are built like tanks esp the HCCA. Stay away from Pyle.
