Hey all, I'm pretty new to the board, just picked up my new (to me) DTS yesterday, got it off ebay. Anyhow, it came with a navigation system, when we got the car the battery was dead, (had it hauled from Texas to North Dakota. Anyhow boosted it, and everything runs well, except the navigation system, it didnt work at all, after i pulled the fuse and put it back in the system came on and the message: Caution Cannot load system software disk type incorrect Please insert correct disk The face plate wont close either, and it doesnt power down when you shut off the car???????? Guess i know why the battery was dead Anyone have any ideas? Please help, am freaked that i might have bought a lemon or something thanks all prarieboy
I would start by looking for a reset button of some sort on the faceplate. I'm not familiar with the type that you have, but there is usually a very small hole in the face plate that you can stick a pin into to reset the device. I would also check the wireing to make sure that everything is straight back there. Could be a loose/frayed/melted wire grounding out causing it to stay on. If it has an interface for a computer, connect a notebook to it with the proper software (usually obtainable from the manufacturer) and see if you can reload it or run a diagnostic on it. Hope that helps.
thanks for the ideas, ill examine the unit for a reset, cadillac wants over $1700 to fix this thing, so I'm assuming its more serious than that, but one never knows! The DVD that the unit gets its info from apparently has the boot info, which apparently means that something has gone wrong with the unit Anyone know any businesses that may repair such units? (third party of course)
