My cousin is wanting to install a double din screen like a 7 inch or so in his Lincoln. All the after market kits are euro style "just the plain jane cd player type " for this application. Does anyone know of a way or a kit that exists or how to go about installing a double din into this Lincoln??? It also has the Alpine sound system in it from the factory. He doenst want a flip out because it will block his vents and he likes how clean the double din looks. Was wondering if anyone knew of a kit or if this would have to be all fabrication.
Its going to have to be fabricated. Your radio is not a true double din, but it is big enough to mount a 7 inch wide screen. But doesnt the climate controls (I'm working from memory and I'm really old) mount below the radio and attach to the same brackets that mount the radio? Minor but not a major set back. I don't think this would be a good beginner project but if you have some experience at fabricating go for it. I would call this an average project for an experienced installer, I would call this really difficult for a beginner.
