I have a 250 watt RMS pioneer that has been powered by an 200 watt mtx amp only wired at (4 ohms) 100 watts. lately it hasnt been working quite as well, so Im wondering if subs get worn out even if they arent being over powered. has anyone had this experience?

over time the surrounds and spider degrade, which can change the parameters of a driver a bit. magnetic flux of the magnet usually does not change. I am thinking that its a "physcoacoustic" effect....your used to how it sounds and want more...meaning you think its not as good as it was once was.... but i may be wrong. Generally speaking...speakers dont wear out unless abused or place in harsh enviornments...

    subs get worn out

subs can get worn out from under power, over power, misuse, or inproper set up. there is many more things it could be. Even though you didnt abuse them or over power them you could still hurt them from under power and improper installation or set up
