I dont know too much when it comes to tuning a higher end amp, (all the filters and switches, and I dont want to smoke anything bc idk what im doing) Iv always had crappy sony stuff. Can someone give me a baseline to start on with my JL 300/4. bought it used off Ebay and it didnt come with any directions. The amp is going to be used to push Alpine type X ref. components and Alpine type R components. Thanks again guys

Thanks! I understand things a little better now. After hooking everything up over the weekend I was VERY VERY disappointed with the way my system sounded. (for some reason I have to turn the volume almost all the way up to get sound) I feel like the monsoon sounded better than what iv got now. The only question I have now is about the filter on the 300/4. It states in the manual to shut the filter off if using an outboard crossover (I’m using components so I have crossovers?) BUT it also says the filter is great for using component speakers? I hope I’m not being annoying...Iv got way too much money in this mess to settle for anything less than outstanding sound.
