which amp should I buy?

I'm planning on buying a new setup for my car in the near future. I'm pretty much set on picking up a 10'' Pioneer PRO, 800rms. I like the 10'' because I still want some trunk space. Anyway, I'm having a hard time choosing a proper amp. I've been looking at the Pioneer D8500M, but that will only be pushing 600watts to it. Not a huge deal because my current sub is 150rms. I'm sure I'd love it. But I'm trying to find an amp with 800rms but can't. All I'm finding is 1000w. Would using an amp with 1000w rms be a terrible thing as long as I don't have the gain up too high? Or should I just under power the sub with 600 watts?

Keep in mind I don't want to break the bank here, as you can probably tell.

here is a comparison of the two amps I'm looking at.

    Pioneer D8500G Rockford Fosgate R1000-1D

    RMS Power @ 4 ohms 300 watts x 1 channel 500 watts x 1 channel
    RMS Power @ 2 ohms 600 watts x 1 channel 1000 watts x 1 channel

    Thank you for any advice!

Give us a budget and what final ohm load your trying to achieve. Then we can give better advice.I would get a 1000rms amp and set the gains properly, that way you'll have a nice clean signal.

Well I am kind of new at this. I don't really understand the pros/cons of wiring it 2ohm vs. 4ohm. As far as my budget, I'd prefer to not spend more than $300 on an amp, but I will if I need to. The sub is a 4ohm DVC, if that helps with anything. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_16664_Pioneer-TS-W2502D4.html

My other option is to just get the same sub in a 12'' with 1000w rms. That would solve my amp issue, lol.

is this pioneer sub available in a dual 2 ohm configuration? if so u have some options u can do an amp that is 1 ohm stable or a 4 ohm bridgeable one, as for feeding it a 1000 rms that isnt an issue! id rather give a woofer a little more power then starving it! let me know what the vc config is and ill be able to give u exact estimates and good gear evaluations!

Agreed. More power is better than too little power....everytime.
