Hello. I am having a problem with my in dash head unit. Can anyone tell me why the faceplate would light up every bulb in it when the key is turned on? I am still installing it, but this has me stumped. I looked on the sony website, and they say the illumination wire on my harness is orange. My harness doesn't have an orange, and there is no wire where the pin should go in. Anyone?
Your DelSol factory wires should be Constant 12V---Blue/White Accessory 12V--Yellow/Red Ground---------Black Illumination-----Red/Black Most aftermarket radios turn on all display lights when the ignition is turned on. The illumination wire (orange or orange/white, on most aftermarket radios) is used to dim the lights on the head unit when the head lights are turned on. So if your radio has an orange wire it should be hooked to the Red/Black. (always double check wires with a volt meter, this wire should read 12volts when the lights are turned on and 0 volts with the lights off)
Actually in my del sol, the constant in white/blue stripe, but anyways. ) As I said, my stereo harness does not have an orange wire. I have an illumination red/black from my del sol, but the sony stereo faceplate is all lit up (every light possible) even when the illumination is not hooked up.
Thanks, I'll fix my notes on the power wire. That model may be an older model that doesnt have an illumination dimmer. In that case all the lights should come on. Is this the correct model? Sony Radio
Yes, that is the correct model. It is an older model. I've had it for years. Worked when I took it out of the previous car.You keep saying that "all the lights should come on." What I am trying to tell you is that all the lights are on. Every single little light that is in the faceplate IS ON. I am trying to figure out what would make it do this. Sorry if I seem rude, but I don't think you are reading my question properly.
