ok first read the second post ( i believe ) by TheViking in this thread.http://www.caraudiotalk.com/audio-forum/showthread.php?t=4204&highlight=good+voltmeter
notice how he mentions some thing like "when your cap is recharging its like a continuous short/sucking power from your amp", right? well say you have two runs of 2 or 4 gauge wire ran from your battery, what if you put the cap on one wire wile the other is ran directaly to the amp, what would that do? nothing? wouldnt it take less from the cap and then wile/when the cap is recharging it wont "suck all the power from the amp due to the second wire , would it?
or even say you have two batterys and the strait wire (with no cap) to one battery and wire with cap to the other, or would that jack the volts to the amp "up too high"?
    im just curious, thanks.

All your doing is adding a longer length of wire between the cap and amp

no, just like im going to be running two 4 gauge wires, and say i was to add a cap in between just one of the wires. both wires will still be the same length.

    Still a parallel circuit.....no change

still no change in "pulling power from amp" even thought there is another positive wire that has nothing to do with the cap? or does the cap still pull from the batter so hard it will interfere with the amp?

let me explain a little. i will have two positive wires and two negative wires, say i stuck just one cap on one of the positive wires, this still leaves me with a wire that is running from my battery to the amp that has nothing to do with the cap. they will be the same length, just on wire has a cap.

bottom line, would you rather recharge the existing caps in the amp? or charge an external cap ?

Ya, amps have storage caps in them. Both in the power supply and output sections of the amp. Most amps have adequate caps for the purpose. Those that dont, you probably shouldnt own anyway...LOL!

A cap does not suck power from an amp. It trys to maintain a stable voltage on the power wire.

If there was a continuous short, your fuse would blow. Dont believe me, touch your power wire to ground. Your fuse will blow

The cap will only show a direct short when it is completely discharged and it will not completely discharge in the car (unless your battery goes completely dead and I mean 0-volts)

I see no difference between a cap on one wire or your idea. The cap will still try to maintain a stable voltage.

It won't hurt anything at all.

My truck has a cap, its been there for atleast 4 or 5 years.
