ok i have 3 Alpine type r 1242 Subwoofers which are rated 500w rms each i also have a Kenwood KAC-9105D monoblock amp which is 900w rms @ 2ohms would this amplifier allow my subwoofers to reach there potential or should i be looking at a 1500w rms amplifier?? and if so what amplifier?? thanks heaps guys
Enclosure design is what determines a woofers maximum power handling. But yes, that amp should do a fine job. the difference between 900 watts and 1500 watts on the grand scheme of things is about 3 decibals
Ported, definitely.I'm sure if you need help designing a box, somebody will help you.You will need to tell us what kind of car you drive and the max dimensions for a box.Just make sure you can fit the box through the opening of your trunk. Some guys use cardboard to use as a dummy box.
im about to be pushing 2 12" l5s 600 wrms with a crapy but good 1000 watt max amp. as long as your gains are set proper . go to the 4-5 pages of "Here are my amp choices" down twords the middle of the home page and it will tell u how to set the gain properly.
