Okay i have a problem...when i turn on my headunit on or change a cd, my subs give a thump..does anybody know whats causing this? is there anyway i can fix this? I heard it normal to do that but it kinda annoying.. And when i turn my gain up on my amp the thump gets louder and when i turn it down the thump gets quieter.

    lets check one thing first......

unplug the RCA's to the amp, then turn the system on and see if it goes away. this will tell us if its the amp or radio. then we can know which direction to go

Okay, the thump is coming from the radio's low level outputs...

Lets try turning the gain down on the amp a bit and see if it reduces the thump to acceptable levels.

Yea it lowers the thump noise..Would it hurt anything if it keeps thumping?

probably not, I say "probably" beacause I have never in all my years seen a "turn on thump" cause damage to a sytem. It can be annoying however!

You could get a bass knob and add that to your system. It'd be a quick way to turn it down/up when you want to. :)

Do this....and see if it works

Run the ground wire from the radio to the same location of the amps ground (within an inch or so)....It wont take long and may alieviate your issue
