New problem.. I have all of my components picked out, and for all four doors the RMS adds up to 900... But the impendence of all the speakers is 4 ohm.. So.. What sized 4 channel amp am I gonna need to push em?.. Or am I gonna need 2 smaller 2 channel amps?
MTX 6.5'' Midbass- 150 RMS MTX 3.5''- 25 RMS MTX 1'' tweeter- 50 RMS I'm doin this in all 4 doors of the truck.

Well, I just realized today that 150 RMS is along way away from 25 and 50... Lol.. So sould I get another amp altogether for tha 6.5s?
75~150 x4. if the power is clean then those speakers should be fine. how are you going to cross over the 3.5 and tweet? im runnning 3 speakers on a 50 x2 amp. 2 polk db midranges, only one has a cap for a 600HZ hipass. the other is getting crossed over at 80 from the head. the tweet is crossed over @ 4500hz. so one mid plays from 80 on up, the other blends in at 600HZ, then the tweeter comes in at 4500, then by then the mids have already rolled off. almost like a 3way. i used to have a 4" infinity mid in my dash being fed 60 watts rms. it belonged to a plate set rated at 45 watts rms. so it maybe hed a rating of 25 watts.
I'm really not sure about crossing over at all.. Because I don't have a clue about sound waves and what to tune them all to and everything.. If I buy a crossover, is it set from tha factory or do I have to tune it? I've NEVER delt with components... And 75-150 RMS per channel?
A good quality 75 watts per channel to each of the 4 corners of your vehicle is what you want. even more is OK....but 75x4 will do a great job! If you use a single chassis 4 channel amp....OK If you use 2) 75x2 amps, thats OK too. Just feed your speakers good clean power. NOW.....do the speakers you want to use include any type of passive x-over? this is important. Because tryin to send bass signals to the mids and tweets is a really bad thing!
Yeah, the 6.5s come with crossovers.. tha tweeters can come with a rather large crossover, or one in line for like 200 dollars less a pair.. but I guess with those you can't set anything?
http://www.bcae1.com/ look up crossovers, passive crossovers and well anything your not sure of. my point is, if your not going to use any crossovers your going to damage not only your speakers but quite possibly your amp as well. now if your planning on buying a component set they will have a passive crossover for the speakers. you should be fine with a 2 way set. but if your set on adding that 3.5" then you can add a passive crossover to it and be fine too. with out any crossover on your (lets use your 3.5" for instance) it will try to play from 20HZ- thats 20 cycles per second- meaning it will move back and forth 20 times each second. sure it can do it. at very very low volumes, but when you turn up the music its going to flop around like a fish out of water then its going to destroy its self. so you put a crossover on it to only play at a higher frequency. like maybe 600HZ and up. when you look at a speakers specs look at the range its made to play in. some mids may say something like this " 80HZ to 5000HZ" meaning its a good candidate for midrange/midbass duty. then a tweeter can be added that plays from 4500 to 20,000 HZ or kHZ. (k meaning 1000. ) that would make for a decent component set. now if you want to simplify things and want to run 3 speakers then look into a 3 way component set. there is really no need for a 3 way set in the back seats. a decent coaxial pair will work leaving you with more cash for a killer front stage. just a suggestion.
Amp size, and (2 sets of components?) Im also confused about amp power, or what amp to get for that matter. I really want to do things right this time, within my spending limit of course. Im thinking about buying the following.... 2 sets of ALPINE SPR-17S 6.5 COMPONENT SPEAKERS (Is it normal to run two sets of componetnts?) 2 sets of 6x9 sony explodes (100RMS), idk what the number is on them And I want to add a set of Type R 10'' subs later. I like infinity amps, idk if thats right or wrong, Will this be Big enough to push the mids and highs? INFINITY Reference 475a 4-Channel ..... 4 ohms: 75 watts x 4 chan. 2 ohms: 90 watts x 4 chan. Bridged, 4 ohms: 180 watts x 2 chan. Max power output: 117 watts x 4 chan
