hey all. new here and having a fustrating problem that i cant figure out. ok i have a 2010 chevy tahoe with a jensen flushmount deck and previously had 2 12" 1300w xplod subs with a 2500w boss chaos 2 channel amp. everything worked fine until tonight when i put together my new setup. got a 3 hole box so i added 1 more xplod sub for a total of 3. i wired them all to eachother then ran one wire to the "bridged" spots on the amp.. then i ran my wire from the battery to my new 5 farad capacitor positive terminal and from the capacitor to the amp posotive. then grounded the amp and the capacitor on the same ground location with one screw.(not sure if this is ok?) pluged in my RCAS to the amp and when i turned it on the amp first did not work because the protection light whent on right off the bat. but the capacitor was lit up. then after disconnecting and then reconnecting the sub wires the 3 subs started to bump. but now when i turn it up it cuts out and goes to protection mode. (note that my remote wire was too short after moving the amp too far away on new box so i added wire to it but its 12g so it goes from reall skinny to fat then to amp remote) dont no if this matters but thats the only type of wire i had access to at this time its only temparairy. PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT GUYS! thanks

Do me a favor...take out the cap... wire from the battery to the amp (positive wires i am speaking of) then run the ground wire of the amp to a solid point...all paint and undercoating scraped away...with a nut and bolt securing it to the chassis...

see what happens. if it still dont work then we will go on....

Seeing that u added a third speaker u may have changed the impedance. Not sure what type of voice coils you have 2 ohm, dual, etc. You may have created a load that the amp cant handle? Just a thought.

I think that this is the right track, I would take the 3rd speaker out and go from there.

Okay, let me see if I have this right:

Three Sony woofers (probably 4 Ohms) wired in parallel to a bridged Boss amplifier? I think you'll need a bit better of an amp to run at 0.66 Ohms.

    Bad configuration, but try this:

    • Start at the POSITIVE bridged amp terminal
    • Run a wire from here to the POSITIVE of the first woofer
    • From that first woofer, run a wire from its NEGATIVE terminal to the POSITIVE of the 2nd woofer
    • Run a wire from the NEGATIVE of the 2nd woofer to the POSITIVE of the 3rd woofer
    • Run the NEGATIVE of the 3rd woofer to the NEGATIVE bridged amp terminal.
    • Enjoy your sounds
