hello, if anyone has heard both these systems i really would like to hear what your opinions of the 2 were. i have narrowed my choice down to these 2 but haven't heard them side by side.

i also have a focal 5.500 amp will these be ok to run it, or is there something that is a step up from this?

any help will be greatly appreciated.

If I had the money id buy the Utopia because of the crossover, it has 4480 settings, also the Beryllium tweeter has a frequency range of 1000 to 40,000 hertz, i dont think the Dynaudio can touch it. If you have the room go for the Utopia No.7.

    thanks for the reply

the dyns have a range of 2200 to 30000 i believe. shops here have been telllin me these dyns are better than the focals, and vice versa. prices where i am are similar but i see around the world there actually a lot cheaper.

can i bridge my amp to run the focals while using the crossblock?
if not would you recomend the fp dual direct, or any other amp?
is the crossblock a similar thing to the rockford fosgate 3sixty.2?
the crossblock is quite expensive, and i have been told there for show and then by others there awesome,

there is a car sound comp here in 2 weeks, hopefullly i get to see some and play with them :)

Well you dont need to use the crossblock, Focal does sell the UniQ xovers, but they are pretty expensive also. Around 750 USD, or you can buy another xover. I like Audiocontrol products, they are built very well, look at the DQL-8 or the DQXS, they have 24DB crossovers, 13 volt line drivers and many bands of equalization (I dont remember how many). As for the 360.2, well i didnt like it cause it was not very user friendly. You need some type of bluetooth unit (palm pilot) or a laptop to make adjustments. Now if its mounted somewhere in the trunk it makes it hard to connect a laptop and using a palmpilot for changing settings makes it really confusing. I uninstalled mine and its just sitting in my garage. As for amps, if your looking for all out SQ look at Audison or Arc Audio, extremely well built amps. Of course the Focal will be fine as well. What kind of car is this goin in and what subwoofers do you have??? By the way those people that say the crossblock is "just for show" have no idea what they are talking about, its an awesome piece of engineering.

i think i will save a little longer and get the crossblock as well, i cant believe the size of it, its huge.

im looking to get a chrysler 300c, gonna drive one soon and see how they go, i dont no how i would mount a 3 way in the front, probably would have to make some pods or somthing.

im probably gonna put 6x9's at the back as they will go straight in and i would like to put a 8" sub in the shelf as there is room, im not a bass nut but again im mainly about the SQ. i dont no how they go without a box. focal make an 8" but havnt heard it, i havnt really looked at subs yet. at the moment i have a 12" focal access at the moment.

ill check them amps out to, im thinkin of one to run the front speakers and my 5.500 for the back and the sub. i think its gonna be quite expensive,

    thanks again for your help!!

Well you can with the #5 or #6, they are 2 way systems. The #7 is the 3 way. I agree with your choice of getting the crossblock, if your going to spend that kind of $$ you might as well go balls out. Make sure you put lots of Dynamat or something similar on the inside of those doors. You dont want any road noise disturbing the sweet sound you will have.

Stay away from putting any speakers in the back. If you are serious about SQ, then rear speakers will really mess up your staging.

I am a FOCAL nut, but have also owned Dynaudio Esotar. I suggest listening to both before making a decision with either company. They both have Excellent equipment, but only your ears will be able to make the decision.
