Hey first post need some help. i think i have blown my sub it is a sony xplod 1300 watt 380rms ( http://www.sony.co.nz/product/xs-l126p5 ). The amp i am using is a sony xplod 2/1 channel 800 watt. ( http://www.sony.co.nz/product/xm-gtx1302 )It is bridged so therefore 800 watts at 4ohm and 340 rms according to the web sites and the instructions. It is distorting at medium levels it was running mint when i first installed it. Does anyone have any ideas is the sub not ideal for that amp or whatever help would be much appreciated. Also what 12 inch sub would suit this amp thanks very much.

I think id change the amp before the sub, i looked at the specs for the amp and its rated for 170x2 @ 2 ohm and a peak of 400x2, it does not show the bridged power. You are probably just clipping the amplifier. Try turning the gains down a little bit and see if that helps.

Then a good amp mono or 2 channel to run a 12 inch sub. not looking to spend heaps just an avg system. thanks very much

not a good idea to use two diff sized subs in your vehicle.

what kind of box was the sub in? maybe it was a crap box?

ive heard plenty of ok subs get loud in a proper box on low power. even crappy amps.

yea i dont no whats wrong with it cause it started going good again but it ovously not the right for the amp ive decided to just get a better sub to match my amp. I just need to find out how many rms it is if i take it to an audio shop will they beable to test it or something. the sub box is just a sealed one as i dont have much room in my truck. http://www.omins.info/jonvy/line/873/12-black-single-subwoofer-box-quality/
