I just joined the forum this evening in the hopes that someone can shed some light on this problem I'm having with my Alpine. I just had it installed today. I'm using the KCU-440i ipod controller cable and also have the USB cable coming out the back. The USB cable was too short so I attached a USB extender cable to it and now both the ipod controller cable and USB are long enough. The problem seems to be with using the KCU-440i cable. I've got a 2nd gen iPod touch 16gb with newest software version 3.1.3 installed. When I connect the ipod to the cable nothing happens. I switch the Alpine to the USB selection and there's no additional selection for the ipod as stated in the manual. The ipod also doesn't seem to react when I connect the cable to it. Tried resetting the Alpine and also the ipod and still nothing. I tried connecting the ipod to the alpine USB cable and I also have to attach my own ipod cable to that, and the Alpine showed SEARCHING then threw up an error code 03. Disconnected the ipod and reconnected and it starts playing songs that are on the ipod but I have no control over selecting playlists or anything like that. I can use the arrow controls on the Alpine to switch from one song to the next but I really have no clue as to how it's selecting the next song to play. Also, when I use the arrows to switch to the next song it will not always go to the next song. It will sometimes repeat the song that is currently playing. In other words, I have to hit the arrow button twice to go to the next song. I can't use the ipod to control how it functions either when it's connected to the Alpine. The ipod screen shows "accessory connected" or something like that. Obviously something's not right but I can't figure out what the problem is. Any ideas on where to start? I would really like to use the Alpine ipod cable since I paid the extra money for it. I also think that I can have better control over the ipod with that cable as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
