not sure if i should of put this in the Subwoofer section but oh well. I been having this problem recently, i have had my system for a yeah and a half with no problems but now whenever i turn off my radio or car the subs will pop even if i turn the radio down to 0 first, ive also noticed a buzzing/whining noise playing thru the subs while the car is on and it gets louder when i rev the engine. Im pretty sure it can be several things that would cause it but wanted to get some opinions of stuff to try first before i have to spend some money on replacing stuff. I have suspected that my alternator is going out and i have been getting some voltage spikes from that so that is one thing that maybe it is sending to much power to the amp or something? But then i was thinking why would it only do it on my subwoofer and not my inside speakers, i have disconnected my amp as of now to not further any damage to it and the noises and popping do not happen to my inside speakers..
i would recheck all the wires leading to your sub amp. over time things happen to come loose. check your rca's too. something may have rubbed thru them if they ran close to something the moves. it happens. good luck.
i agree with Pedro, check your rca cables esp where they connect to your radio or amps. mine were rubbing on a brace that ran behind my radio and after a while they started making all kinds of noises.
I had the same problem a while back check your ground cables and your rcas maybe their smash and that's how your getting your engine noise. Good luck G.
Alright thanks guys, i will get on that today. I have some extra ground cable so i think im just gonna switch out my old one and check all my wiring today.
Ok i switched the ground cable with some Rockford fosgate cable i had, i also switched the rca cables with some extra ones i had and checked the remote wire which seems to be in good condidtion and secured but the popping sound is still there. I think i will try a different amp next. If the popping was due to the alternator failing and voltage spike wouldnt it still do it even if the RCA cables were disconnected since there is still power going to the amp and it also pops even if the car is off.
well if the rcas are not connected there is no signal going to the amp so you should have silence with the rcas disconnected. Also if its popping with the engine off it cant be your alternator since its not providing any current to the cars electrical system, with the engine off your powering everything off the battery. If thats the case it must be in your wiring somewhere.
OK thanks, I fixxed the buzzing noise, my amp was on hpf so i switched it to lpf and the buzzing stopped, so im guessing it was seeing some weird frequencies or something? But the popping is still there, although it doest seem as loud now. Im gonna try a different amp today.
