I really like sealed boxes, they are smaller and I think sound nicer. In my opinion ported boxes will be really loud at the point they are tuned and drop off somewhat at other frequencies. Its just my opinion, im sure the next person will say why they like ported better. Its really what you like that matters.

Ported, tuned @33-35 hz, the L7's are ment for spl not really an sq sub. Will get loud though!

both do sound good, but..... what will fit under your seats better? a ported box will have to be bigger while a sealed box can be smaller.

i used to have an L5 and an L7 10. the L5 was in a .88 sealed box and sounded very good.
the L7 i used a ported 2.0cf box and it was much louder. altho i did have a lil more power to it as it was a D2 ohm sub. the L5 was a D4.

while i was able to do a 136.4 with the L5 on 280 watts i was able to do a 138.4ish with the L7 on 500ish watts.

so it depends i guess on what will fit better.

Yeah, like Pedro said, whatever fits... I've tried ported in too small a box and it sounded horrible, but sealed in the same box killed..
But, it can work the other way too.. Ported and kill a sealed.. Jus like in every other aspect in audio, it's all up to what YOU like... So, if you have time and materials, I'd try both... But if not, build to what one of these guys on here fits to the specs.. They're usually right.. lol
