hey guys im bout 2 get a 12inch solo x in a ported box what would be the best mono block amp to power it ? thanx in advance for you comments
I think the best amp in your dollar range would be the Hifonics BXI 2610D, sonic has it for 329, should push those subs very well.
I have 3 Hifonics amps and all have performed very well for me on lots of different subs. The only other amp i can think of in your price range would be the Earthquake PH5000, it makes like 3000 watts at 1 ohm but its more expensive than the Hifonics.
Are you going to install it in that Honda? If you do you will for sure need to do something with your electrical system.
its the 2 ohm.... and yes it would go in the honda i have a spare battery 75 amp duralast gold so as soon as i get some 0g wire i was going to hook it up and i was planing on getting a 2 farad cap off one of my buddies cause even now with my 1200 watt amp everytime my bass hits my lights dim pretty bad lol and i just talked to the guy on cragslist and he said when he was showing it to some guy yesterday he blew the cone you guys still think i should get it and just buy a re-cone for it? he said it was smoking.... he said he had it hooked up to a 5000 watt digital design amp.
if you can shell out the extra cash this amp would be a good match for the solo x and its a steal at this price. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_20805_Soundstream+XXX4000D+R-B.html
if your charging system is having problems with a Sony 1200 watt amp a 2600 Hifonics runnining at like 1 ohm, it will eat your car alive. A battery or cap wont make any difference.
yah thats what i was thinking im trying to get some 0g wire to start but do you guys still think i should get the sub even tho its blown?
You stated it was "smoking" that means the voice coil was burning up, or burnt up. Im not sure if you can replace the coil yourself or have to send it in for repair, that is something you will have to look into and see what the costs are to do it. Obviously putting a 1500 watt woofer on a 5000 watt amp and cranking the snot out of it isnt very good. If it were me id pass on it.
how much you payiong for it? IIRC the recone just slips in and out easy. http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/...id/0/SFV/30046/order/desc/order_by/sell_price
i would pass on it. no sense buying it only to have to rebuild it. unless he's willing to lower the price considerably.
