I know this will be a simple and quick answer for you guys but I am getting a 12" JL W3v3-2 and a 1000 watt kenwood 2 channel amp, my question is if my amp runs too hot or can't handle the 2 ohm load can the 2 ohm sub be wired to 4 ohms?
thanks for the quick reply, do you think that my amp could handle it or should I just get the 4 ohm sub?
it is a 1000 watt kenwood 2 channel(don't have the model number but its the model before the new one they have out) and its going in a ported 1.75 cu ft. box
Someone may want to chime in and make sure of my opinioin but I think after independence rise you should be fine. The whole idependence rise thing is kind of new to me though.
I'm not particularly sure on that specific amp but I'm sure it's a class AB amp. Which means you'll most likely have issues with a 2 ohm bridged load. Had to find that out the hard way. I would recommend getting a higher quality Class D mono block amp that will make the power needed at 2 ohms instead of just getting a 4 ohm subwoofer.
I chatted with someone from Crutchfield and they said that I would need to get a 4 ohm sub otherwise my amp couldn't handle the 2 ohm load. So i'll just get the 4 ohm sub, no big deal
