i am putting a stereo together for my younger cousin and im not sure what to go with. his budget is approx $800. so far i have picked up a brand new alpine CDA-9886 HU for $100, a ppi pc2150 for $100, a ppi pc450 for $100. i will get all of his wiring from knukonceptz and im figuring around $100 for that too. that leaves me with $400 for subs, box and mids and highs. the install will be free because i will be installing it. i will be installing this in his 1999 gmc sierra ext cab. he is willing to give up his backseat for the subs. the 2 main things he wants in this setup is an ipod adapter and to be as loud as possible. because he is limited on funds im not sure what kind or how many subs he should go with. i was thinking maybe 2 decent 12's, 4 lower end 12's, or maybe even 1 15 in a good ported box. my other option is to eliminate the pc2150 to put $100 towards something else. the pc 450 gives me 200w bridged @ 4ohms, the pc 2150 gives me 300w @ 2ohms or 600w bridged @ 4ohms. i would also like to know if anyone could recommend a decent set of entry level mids and highs i could use.

Is anybody here familiar with the diamond D315D4.2 15's or the diamond
D112D2.2 12's. I am thinking about going with 2 of the 15's or 4 of the 12's for the setup im putting together because I can make them work with the budget I have. I'm just a little unsure because I haven't heard them and we don't have a place that sells diamond in Las Vegas.

Well one of my buddies was running two of the Diamond D3 12's with a 5500 watt American Bass amp and wow! it was really loud and sounded great

I've heard excellent things about Diamond subs, a buddy of mine had a single 10" D6 in his mustang and it was loud. I was going to put a D3 behind the rear seat in my Chevy Crew cab but it was too deep of a sub.

Another option if he has the cash left is too get the under seat box and still have room to haul a few gals around haha.

In an extended cab truck I would recommend a dual 12" setup with a ported enclosure. That should be plenty loud in a cab that size, and not put too much load on the factory alternator and single battery setup. You can find some really decent 12's for a reasonable price.

You may look at some DB Drive brand subs or Quantum Audio for value subs.

    Hope this helps man!
