Im wondering what a good setup would be for my f150 lightning? Right now I have a 10W0 in a standard truck box. I think it is like 13in high 18in long and 5in on top and 7.5in at the bottom. Using Sony XAVW1 headunit and boss amp. here are the specs but I dont trust them at all. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_1996_Boss+RT2500D+Class+D+RIOT+Series.html Im guessing the amp sucks I dont even remember where I got it I never had intensions of using it for any amount of time. I have pretty limited space and I only want to use one sub because I like to be able to put some stuff behind the drivers seat. What I am looking for is deeper bass than my current set up I want it to be loud but if I turn it up now it gets loud the bass is just weak. Fitting a 12 is a possible but the air space of the smaller box seems to be a problem, and I have to stick with no more than 13in height because the design of the truck. two set ups I was looking at were -Alpine SWR12 and a PDX1.600 or MRP-M1000 - JL 12W3 and a Slash 500/1 The JL is more $$$ and I feel like I may just be paying for the name. I like the looks of the alpine stuff more as well. My other thought was if I cant build a box that will work good with a 12 was getting a 10W6?? is a bigger sub really the only way I am going to get that low end punch?
If you want low and loud bass, the box size is important. In fact it is the most important thing, regardless of the speaker you choose. That box you have is just a hair over 1/2 a cu ft. Thats not big enough for an 8-inch woofer and you have a 10 in it. You could put a $1000 dollar woofer in that and it will sound really bad. Seriously, you need a bigger box
I know I need a bigger box I wasnt going to try and put another sub in that box. What about a thunderform box? I didnt want to take the whole back of the truck up but that tunderform looks too nice to pass up if its going to sound good.
