IM FINALLY GETTING READY TO ADD SOME SUBS INTO MY CAR TO COMPLETE MY SYSTEM. (SO FAR I HAVE POLK AUDIO DB651 DOOR SPEAKERS RUNNING OFF AN APLINE F300 4 CHANNEL AMP) I HAVE DECIDED THAT SINCE I'M A BEGGINER, BUYING A SUB ALREADY BUILT INTO A FACTOR ENCLOSURE WOULD BE THE WAY TO GO. I HAVE BEEN DOING ALOT OF RESEARCH ONLINE AND HAVE COME DOWN TO THREE SUB/ENCLOSURE THAT MIGHT WORK PRETTY WELL BUT I'M NOT TOO SURE. PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE ON WHICH ONE YOU GUYS THINK WILL HIT THE HADEST AND OR PROVIDE THE BEST QUALITY BASS IM CHOOSING BETWEEN: MTX Audio Terminator TNP212D: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12216_MTX+Audio+Terminator+TNP212D.html Kicker 07DC122: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_2067DC122/Kicker-07DC122.html?o=r&tp=112 MTX JH4512-X2D: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_236JH4512X/MTX-JH4512-X2D.html?o=r&tp=112&tab=detailed_info ANY HELP WILL TRULY BE APPRECIATED!
even though you are new to the car audio thing, i still dont suggest you getting one of those pre-made enclosures. its really not that difficult to make your own, whether it be sealed or ported. you just have to have times and patience. oh yeah, if you have someone that can help you, thats a big plus too. wood + material cost around $50, give or take. then you can have more money for better subs + amps. you also get the satisfaction of knowing that you built it yourself
x2 on what Kvo said.. I'm only 16 and I've built quite a bit of ported and sealed boxes and they all sound good, just takes some patience
the tools you need are a jig saw, a drill and thats about it lol. you can get your wood cut at home depot or lowes. feel free to add any tools he mights need that i forgot
some screws, drill bit to pre-drill the holes (mdf tends to split other wise), and silicone/ caulking gun. that's all I can think of to add lol
Thanks for the advice Lazy Eye and Kvo 8! I would really like to make a box for my subs but time is the issue. I am a full time college student and i also work full time, so my schedule is hectic. The free time that I do have I'm either sleeping or taking care of the family; which is why I chose to buy a sub that already comes with the box to save me the time and hassle. Cause of my situation which one of my chooses ( Or any other quality sub/enclosures) do you guys think will hit the hardest and or provide the best quality bass. Everyone's welcome to help...
not a big fam of prefab boxes > But unless you can get with somone to give a u a good box design then somting you make may be worst then prfab they are not hard to make you just need right design
Probox makes a very good PreFab. If you have to go that route then ProBox is the way to go. They are a little pricey, but well worth the money. Another option, PM Thumpper, see what he charges for a box. His work is awesome http://www.caraudiotalk.com/audio-forum/showthread.php?t=6564
subs The jackhammers seem to be the best option unless you're buying your amp separately from the terminator see my new post as I' am having the same issue.
I guess admin has to look at threads first mine hasn't been posted yet. The temrinators are way under powered.. by like 45%. I think the Jackhammers are the best options Fry's has em on sale for 149 which is a great price. I' am currently asking hte same questions which was the terminator package with amp or the jackhammer 12s and the jh600 which is 100 rms to much for the box.
