Well, i got a little bit of testing time with 2 sundown SA-8s. I was all around a 144.6 then we moved the box and i got a 145.7 at 53Hz sealed on the dash with 1 sundown 2000 @12.7 volts. Ill get some pics up tomorrow bc they are on the owners camera and he will email me them tomorrow. What yall think about this score?
thats a beast score for 2 8s man. makes me want to maybe do 4 of them in my trunk lol. so you're feeding them 1000 rms right now?? what size box??
It was on a burp. The amp was at .5 ohm but we didnt have a clamp meter to see how much power we were getting but it was around 1000 to each. We tested for about an hr and they only got just a tad warm and they didnt move much with 1000 watts. I think the box was about 1.7-1.8 cubes with 1 6" aeroport. The box had a few leaks in it. If i had a box to where i could face the subs and port to the drivers side, i believe i could have gotten around 147 or so. I was only 2.1 db from my burp score with my 4 15s in a wall. LOL These 8s are beasts.
now ive never heard the 8's but if they sound as good as the other sizes then i think you'll be very happy. im thinking of what to get for power come tax time. needs to be clean and have more power for my subs. im thinking 1000~ 1200 watts or maybe a lil more. not the thread jack here, but........ last night i swapped amps from the nine.5 to my hifonics zeus and the difference in sound was night and day!!!!.... meaning the zeus sucked at sub duty. it was just horride sounding on bass, even having more power i was more happy with the ED.i lost all my sub sonic lows, even having the SSF turned all the way down. so i swapped back. now back to my choice for a new sub amp....ED, audioque, or sundown. im doing some serious reading on these even some others.
my jl sounds freaking awesome bass wise, and it pounds. i bought the dc 1000.1 and i didnt like the sound of it much...you can definitely find a used 1000/1 for around 350 or so. prob a little more if not the same price as those other brands you're looking at
W 4 8's off off 5-600 rms, i would think low 140s on music and maybe mid 40s on a burp. This could vary also depending on the install and the box. I say around 145 +/- 2 or 3 dbs.
Yea i no wat u mean. I think i maybe getting a term lab for christmas. 140s are good. Especially with like 4 8s or so.
Well heres some pics of the 8s in the truck when we tested last friday. Let me know what yall think. The box was made for Jacob's jeep and is tuned to 53hz. Here is subs forward and port to the drivers side. It did a 144.6 sealed and a 146.3 outlaw like this. Here is subs up and port to the drivers side. It did a 145.9 instead of a 145.7 in my first post.
Lazy eye, i think for competitions and burp boxes, they work better, but for daily driving and a few competitions, slot ports are just fine as long as all the corners are rounded or 45's on them.
