after 6 different head units in under 3 years, I finally have a system I am happy with. This seems to be the most complete all around car audio forum so I decided to join in. Looking mainly for Alpine info as it is pretty scarce on the web. Had 2 Pioneer avic units, there is an excellent online community for them, but ultimatly I didn't like the hardware, now I have come full circle back to alpine, Started out with stock ford cd/mp3 player, then Alpine 9557 then Alpine iva-w205 then Pioneer Avic D3 then Pioneer Avic F700 then Alpine iXA-305 finally Alpine iXA-W404 and sticking with it.
I was able to sell everything on ebay or amazon, including the accessories such as bluetooth and satilite radio adaptors. Current setup is as follows: Alpine iXA-W404 JL Audio A6450 powering 4 JL audio XR-570CXi and 1 Rockford Fosgate P3S410 shallowmount sub. Alpine KCE-400 bluetooth Alpine Sirius adaptor Alpine NVE-M300 Navigation dynamat in the doors Streetwires amp kit Ipod hidden in false floor in console PAC T-7 module to bypass video lockout Comming this weekend, JL Audio Remote Bass Control Everything is hidden well and the sound is clear. Bluetooth handsfree and audio streaming work flawlessly with my blackberry tour. iPod controls work great, easy to use while driving.
I would like to hear more about the iXA-W404 and the KCE-400. For example, does the iXA-W404 work as smoothly as the iDA-X303. Tell me your likes and dislikes.
