I've been having a pair since April to replace the 8" Shaker 500 "subwoofers" in my 2006 Mustang. Sadly, I have yet to replace them due to other things coming up. My plan is to run them from 80 Hz to around 400 Hz, active in those sealed door pods.

I have another friend who is using a single 6.5" MLI-65 ported as a sub in his 1992 Toyota Single Cab truck and he is impressed with its performance as a subwoofer. Granted, it won't win any SPL contests, but, it does add a bit of umph in such a small space without giving up any leg room (He is 6'2"). He did warn me about using them in a 2 way setup though stating that they start to have an erratic frequency response over 1 kHz.

ETA: Zaph Audio reviewed them here: http://www.zaphaudio.com/6.5test/ 7 up from the bottom of the list.

when he warned of the 2 way setup, do you mean running them in parallel? Or do you mean just with a 2 channel amp? i was going to use them as rear fill from my HU @ 4 ohms which i believe is the rec ratings on it....

I was initially going to use them as part of a 2 way active setup in my doors. Running the MLI-65s from 80 Hz to 4 kHz was not recommended for my initial intended application, so I had to rethink that. I still plan to use them in a 2 way front setup, except now I am using a Tang Band Full Range driver in the factory 6x8 location that easily will handle from 400 Hz on up.

In your case, I believe the Mach5 Audio drivers will work fine.
