Installed four new kicker speakers in my avalanche. They worked great with the stock head unit but once i installed my screen, sub and amp the speakers sound terrible. I cant turn it up very loud and it is especially bad when my ipod is hooked to the usb port. Im thinking maybe there is a problem with the factory amp but i dont have a clue what to do about it. its an 02 avy with onstar if that helps anyone out. Thanks in advance

    Is it staticy or whiney?

If its a whine then you may have run your power and RCAs on the same side which causes this. Just run one on the opposite side and it should be fixed. If thats not what your experiencing then hopefully somebody else has a better answer. Oh and welcome to CAT.

not sure what whiney is exactly. its seems like static. the power wire for the amp? even when rca is unhooked and amp is off it is still messed up. Sorry i am very new to the world of car audio

Yep well that rules out my suggestion, hopefully somebody else knows.

I am assuming that you have a aftermarket deck. If you do have an aftermarket deck, are you positive that you also have an OEM amp? If so, you will have to bypass it for sure. I'm surprised that you're getting sound now cuz when there is a factory amp in the mix, it has to be bypassed for you to have sound. It must sound really bad now if that factory amp is still hooked up. give me a few hours, i'll go have a look in the avalanche forums to see how to bypass your factory amp.

there is definately no amp in center console i removed it completly to put sub box under it. Local car audio store gave me some huge wiring harness so onstar will still work, with a regular wiring harness i could not get any sound to speakers.
