Hello everyone, first post to this site. I have two 12" Infinity Reference 1232w's that i want to put back into my car. I have not had them in anything for a long time. When i did have them in i was using a rockford p5002 to power them, but as everyone has told me before i was really underpowering them and they can take WAY more. So what amp should i get? To run like 500-600 rms to each. Looking so spend like 150 to 200 bucks on a good amp. Thanks for your help in advance!

can your vehicle support an amp that can make 1200 watts of power?

at that price range look in to. power acoustik or crunch.

i also believe elemental designs has there mono amp on sale for 195.

I am guessing that I will need a compacitor right? Even now when i roll down the windows the lights dim. So i guess i would need one. It is a 2003 Grand Am GT

Yes they are, but i have had many many people say that i can run 450 to it. I was running a Rockford p5002 to them about a year back. Is that enough? Should i get that same amp again or go bigger?

the Rockford p5002 does 500watts x1 at 4ohms.. i don't know how you had it wired but if you look at it bridged it was probably about right. maybe a little underpowered. the elemental designs amp that pedro mentioned is a beast and was brought back at a sale price of only $195 which is a total steal! you may want to take a look at it.

the elemental amp is too much power for you but that's what the gain knob is for.. at least you'll have a bada$$ amp if you ever want to change your subs down the road...

the nine.1 has been bench tested to do over 1500 at 1ohm... I would jump on it while the sale lasts...

I will go with that amp then. How would I wire that to my two (DVC) subs? Also with the gain nob, should i have it all the way down after installation and when it distorts then there is to much power or clipping from the subs? And keep the nob there?

are your subs DVC 4ohm or DVC 2ohm?

well, the amp does put out more than rated power so if you want and your subs are DVC 4ohm then you can run the amp at a 4ohm load (series/parallel). it will only give you 450watts at 4ohms but you're subs will see more than that. if you really want to take a chance then you can run them at 1ohm and wire them in (parallel/parallel).

Yes, when installing keep the gain all the way down and slowly put it up until they get loud enough to where they won't distort while playing a 50hz tone. Can you get your hands on a DMM (digital multi meter)? if you can then you can set your gains at the required voltage which would be a lot safer.
