    Hi.

Just wondering what is the best to use out of the 2?
I find the crimping joiners hold better, and dont come apart as easy, but they are also messier.
Solder on the other hand is easy, fast and cheaper. But you have to wrap tape around it otherwise it will hit metal and short circuit.

    Which do you find better?

How much force should either of the 2 be able to withstand? In a car their are a fair few bumps and sharp turns etc, they could come apart?
I can pull them with slight force and they do not come apart.

how is crimping messy to you? i crimp cause its quick and easy and not messy. you can also shrink wrap them too to make em look neat.

now if i had the patients for it i would prob solder, but i'd prob burn myself too.lol

in my store its solder all the way, as we offer a life time warranty on our installs.

i suck at crimping (don't have a crimping tool so that's probably why) so i just solder my joints but i just tape them up after. As soon as i get a hold of some heat shrink i'll do that. Looks a lot cleaner...

Soldering takes a lot more patience but it holds VERY well as long as you do it right.

Good idea. At our shop we crimp, unless its a connection that absolutely cannot fail. An example might be a connection for a cruise control where we have to cut and splice into the gas pedals wiring. NO connection there can fail or the car don't go.

Car stereos, we crimp. Its fast and easy

I have this really nifty butane soldering thingy in my toolbox that I never use, it basicallly has a round thing that you put the wire into and then solder away! you can get into some really tight spaces with it, and the best part is... you can work it with one hand!!!!

Crimping properly results in less resistance in the wire.

How? Explanations are splendid for people who are learning! (such as myself)
