Hi, Im looking for a sub at around $200- $400 ish and im wondering if anyone has anything to suggest, I'm kinda leaning towards the Pioneer Champion Series Pro but open to just about anything that's good quality. I was thinking of powering whatever I buy by hooking 2 Pioneer GM-D7400M (800W max) in parallel and get about 800 rms out of them. Is there anything wrong with doing this? I listen to 99.9% rock/metal and I'm also wondering if I'm better off with a 12" or a 10" based on my music. Thanks.

if you haven't bought an amp yet what is your budget for the amp.

if you use 2 amps like that you'll have to gain match them pretty dang close. within at least 1~2 tenths of each other

What will happen if they are not matched close enough?

you could burn the sub up i think or at least a coil.

why not 2 subs with 2 amps?

for $300 you could get one class D amp. your system would be more efficient running a class D amp for your subs..

If you want just one sub go for a DD 1500 series.

I only want one so I can still have space to put stuff but is it possible to have one amp and one sub at 2 ohms?

yeah you can do that. if you get a dual 4 ohm, you can wire it to 2 ohms...or you can get the dual 2 ohm and wire it to 1 ohm

What about the difference in sizes? I have never actually owned a 12 so I'm wondering if its actually noticeably sloppy compared to a 10.

from a 10 to a 12" i would say there is a BIG difference in bass.
