well i dont think im giving them to much power, may be not enough airspace. i have to pull one out but there may be a brace behinf the magnet. i dont hear any distortion, my gain is set pretty low
How do you know it is hot? How do you know it is hotter than it should be? Just curious...I have never ever tried to tell or measure how hot any of my speakers ever got..
they feel very warm, i guess i dont know this isnt ok. they give a distinc smell also. i guess i dont know there not getting a clipped signal. like i said i have the gain turned low and i dont hear any distortion from the subs. the ohm load is correct and the amp claims to be able to power what the subs claim to handle...
well, if the subs smell that means you're burning the coil which could mean what azn said is correct. you may be clipping.. doesn't matter how high your gain is, you can still clip the signal. do you play at very high volumes?
my new sub gives off a wicked stick when i jam on it. thats normal i guess. its only been played on for a few hours. it has only less than 40HRs on it.
I know that subs need to be broken in first. Im not 100% on that, I've just heard that on a few fourms. Maybe you cranked them up too much too soon maybe. Im thinking maybe you have the amp or the head unit super bass up to high or something like that.
also just so you know its normal for them to heat up. now i dont know how hot they are getting either so.....
i get a smell, and it doesnt smell good. i still have a few things to mess with so well see. i do play at high volumes and the LOC im using has gain knobs on it so i prob need to back them down.
