I'm putting in a set of alpine components, and the tweeter is wired from the fatory. I must have lost my instruction sheet. Which wire does alpine use for the + and -? I already tried calling tech support of USA, and Canada, both are closed untill monday. Help! Thanks Ryan
One is black with white strip on it, the other is all black with some small writing on it. But neither is labled + or -. This is for the tweeter only as it is the only thing that is pre wired from the factory.
question... if you bought a set of alpine component speakers why would you use the factory wiring to wire the tweets? all component sets come with crossovers so your tweets would go into the crossover along with the midbass speakers.. Then, you'd only have one set + and - going to the head unit... you shouldn't be using the factory wiring for the tweets IMO.
OK, I will go real slow. The tweeter comes pre wired from the factory with 2 wires that go to the crossover, OK are you still with me? Which of the 2 wires that are pre fabed from the factory is the + and which is the -? I have run all new wire from the amp to the crossovers and rear co ax speakers. I never said anywhere that I was using the factory wiring. Reading comprehension owns cccullen. DatDude08- I did end up using the stripped one as the -. thanks
please no need to get snippy. he just misread your OP is all. glad to hear you got it figured out too. it was really a 50/50 anyways.lol
Not sure you can see a tweeter move but as a rule of thumb if you are not sure you can take a 9 volt battery and touch the wire leads to the terminals. If you have positive and negative correct the speaker will move OUT...If you have them hooked up backwards it will move IN... USUALLY as was stated the negative will have the striped wire..
