new alarm?

    i've been looking into a new alarm since mine just stopped working all of a sudden like over a year ago...tried replacing the battery, but that didnt work. so now i am looking at a new one...possibly the prestige xr9000..what do you guys think about that alarm? any other suggestions?

    ..also i was wondering what security measures you guys take on your cars here so your stuff wont get jacked

    An alarm is just part of keeping your system. Number 1 rule, DON'T ADVERTISE. A stereo system is for our enjoyment. Not the whole neighborhood. Your chances of getting jacked increases as more and more people know its there.

    ALWAYS remove the radio face. Always. When I stop to get gas, I remove the face, lock the doors and arm the alarm. Always.

    Most of the time when some has a system stolen, its by someone they know. Yes thats right, 95% of the time. Does that tell you something?

    Properly secured boxes and amps are hard to remove. For example, my box is secured with one bolt INSIDE the box. If I wanna remove the box, the speaker has to be removed first. And this is a large bolt. Also the screws that hold in my woofers are torx, not phillips screws. In many installs, the thief opens the back (alarm goes off), cuts the amp wires, picks up the box and amp and takes off. All this before you have time to get out of your house. If it was bolted down then ........

    thanks for your input ranger, i understand what you are saying about not blasting it around all the time so everyone doesnt know you have a system but i do like to listen to mine loud most of the time lol. also i never really thought about removing my radio face ..no idea why..i also like your idea about the bolt inside the box to hold it down, how'd you do that? and any input about the alarm itself?

    All alarms work the same. Just stay with a name brand. Install it right and you will never have a problem.
