My sisters BF want me to help him with his stereo in his Jeep. I had a set of Infinity 5 3/4 sitting around so I gave them to him and then he bought some Infinity Reference 9603i 6x9's for the rear hatch. It only had front door speakers so we had to cut the rear hatch for the 6x9's. So what's the problem? It has NO midbass!! I figured replacing the stock 19 year old door speakers would help but it sounds the same? LOTS of midrange, little treble or highs and thats it! If it wasn't for the 2 ao's in the back it would have NO BASS!! He says he is happy wioth it but to me, it just sucks!! I can fix the highs. I have some Boston Accustic components lay around that will (sort of) fit (little cutting) for the fronts but even when I tried them out it still soundes like ALL midrange! Kinda like when you hold a speaker arms legnth. i got enough dynamat to do his entire jeep but I don't think it will help. What can i do to get some more mid-bass? Oh and for the rear too! The 9603's sounded great in my Jeep's rear door-lots of mid-bass but his... Crap!! ANY suggestions!! Oh and he likes his "sound" more from the rear.

Adding an external amplifier for the speakers will greatly improve midbass and dynamics. Make sure the speakers are sealed around the mounting areas.

if you have the dynamat then do the doors and hatch really well. like azn said make sure they are well sealed.

I did one door both inder the door panel and on the inside. It is quieter on that side going down the road but it still sounds the same as the other-to much midrange! ANd as for the rear hatch. It's make of fiberglass!?? adn JUST barley fits the 6x9's and as for dynamating that... can't even get into it! Maybe under the panel but that's it. maybe a box for the front doors?? ANd as for the amp, w=it would have to drive the 2 5 3/4's and the 6x9's and the 2 10's. I don't think his alt could handle two amps!

I'm sure that his alt could handle that bc I am running a 2500 watt amp on my stock alt and I mean the lights dim a little I'm sure it'll bc fine!
