Where is the best place to ground my amps. I can ground them to the bolts that hold the back seat down, but am concrened about the paint on the bolts sticking out of the floor causing a weak ground. I also thought about drilling holes and cleaning the paint off then sticking bolts through the floorboard and grounding them there, but I running three amps and want to be sure to get the best ground possible. I'm running a 200 watt, 400watt, and 1000watt amps. The 200wat isn't what I'm worried about. I'm sure that I could just run a bolt through the floor and it be okay. But I'm concerned about the 400 and 1000. Don 't want to smoke noting. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks! One more thing while I'm thinking about it. I replaced my head unit due to engine noise. I had touched a power wire to one of the amps and fried the head unit( on accident). I had the amps checked out, which consisted of the guy hooking them up to some display units at the local sound shop. All the amps worked fine that way, but I am still worried that I will have engine noise once I get everything hook up. It didn't fry the display model and everything worked, but am still worried since it wasn't hooked up to a car type power system with an alternator, and engine. Any thoughts?

drilling a hole and using a bolt is a good way to ground your amps. if your doing multiple amps use a ground distrobution block. thats what i did when i had 3 amps in my truck.

I wirewheeled the paint off of the metal surface and drilled a hole for each amp ground. I ran a bolt through and fastened the grounds down. For piece of mind I also ran a ground from the back wall to the Frame of the truck using 4 gauge wire. Everything is done and wired. I tried it out a little while ago and it sounds great. No engine noise at all.
