I Have Two Blaupunkt Overdrive odw1200 subwoofers which have Dual 4 ohm coils so with two subs i can have a 4 ohm load or a 1ohm load so im looking for an amp to put out either 800 rms at 4 ohms or 1ohm, Looking for a clean amp so probably class a/b but will go with class d. They are each getting 200rms roughly now and it sounds great but i wanna give them at least 300 each, they are in a sealed box that is around 1.4 cuft per chamber as per specs of the sub.
http://www.edesignaudio.com/index.php look at the nine.2x its cheap and has power to spare. 600 rated at 12v will do more at higher voltage. should get you at the power level you want
thanks for the help, i like the looks of that amp and you cant beat the price i was thinking of going with the powerbass asa800.2 link below http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_10085_PowerBass+ASA-800.2.html But i dont know much about them either so now i have 2 to think about. Anything has to be better than the sony xplod amp I have pushing them now, I also have a Soundstream Tarantula 1600/2 but that puts out 1600 rms bridged into 4 ohm load so that wouldnt be safe for life of my beloved speakers. I am going to use that to power a cerwin vega stroker 102 which handles 2000rms and is at 4ohms in series. I blew the last one but it was in a vented box so im hoping if i put the stroker in a box built to spec that is sealed it will be able to handle the amp, either way thats alot of power for a 10 inch subwoofer. Sounded loud and pure for a while untill all of the sudden my 89 s10 blazer was full of smoke. Thank goodness for field replacable voice coil assemblys.
power bass makes good stuff. their sub amps (the BIG ones) 3000 and 4000 can make subs beg for mercy thats for sure. i have pics. anyways what was the other box the vega was in tuned too. cause if you play too low below tuning that will destroy a sub quick. my 8's are in a box tuned to 30hz and on accident i played a really low note (new song, didnt know it was coming) and my subs just made a loud popping noise till i turned them down. turns out the note was around 20~25 hz. is all this still going into your 89 blazer? i love those boxy trucks. i used to have an s15 pick up for 17 years.
oh i forgot to mention. that i have their nine.5 (discontinued) amp in my truck. and it has plenty of power to satisfy me and my speakers. its a 5 ch amp 100 x4 @ 4ohm and 600 x1@ 1 ohm all rated at 12.5v
