Hey would someone here please make me a design of what my box needs to look like. I have 2 - 12inch Hifonics subs and I'm trying to build my own ported box for them. My father is a carpenter so as long as someone here designs me the box I can just print it out and he'll be able to help me build it. My trunk dimensions are 40 inches wide (from left to right) by 24 inches deep (from the where the trunk begins to the very back) by 17 inches tall ( up and down). Thanks for your time.

Thats the links to my subs. They are Hifonics HFi 12S4. I also have a question about my ported box been in my trunk and what it will do to my 2 6x9 cones that are chilling back there in the trunk . I asked this question earlier an someone recommended that I either take the back 6x9s out or that I build a box around them. Which one should I do? And If I do decide to build a box around them what kind of box should I build?

the guys that design boxes around here are Aznboi, Ranger and G3. You might want to shoot them a PM. I know that Azn is pretty loaded right now but you can give it a shot.

As far as the 6x9's go, since they are in there then you might as well keep them there. Just build a small box big enough to cover them up from the underside. the box should just be a simple seal box. You may just want to build one box for both of the 6x9's to make it look cleaner. It's totally up to you.

Pedro's friend took shoe boxes and peel and seal and made them.

1.75-2.25 works well...with about 200 watts per sub you can get away with 2.5 cu ft...digs deep and pretty smooth for such a low cost subwoofer.

aznboe im a newbie at this. I dont really know what what you said means...=/
is there anyone here that can design it like on one of those graphic programs? Because my dad doesn't know how to build a box and neither do I but if he has a visual w/ measurements and stuff he can def. pull it off.

make it be about 4cuft to 5 cuft with a tuning of about 35hz, 38-40hz is a little too high for those subs imho. I've personally dealt with those subs and built a 5.3cuft net box @ 31hz and they shake your ****!

Hey G3, thanks for you help. How do I go about tunning my box though? Like I don't know how to tune it to a certain Hz. Furthermore when u say 4cuft to 5cuft like what does that tell me about the heigh and lenght and depth of the box itself....I know this all sounds ridiculous but this is the first time I'm building a box so I'm a newbie...

Jayz85 thanks for the visual bro, is thats a ported box just for one sub right? should I build to separate boxes or just one?

Thanks for your time guys. I really appreciate it.

you can fit the enclosure to whatever you like...read the Google Sketch Up Tutorial.

i used the RE site to build my box for my 3 8's. worked out very well.

keep playing with the height and depth to get the desired volume, but keep your width at max to keep the box wedged in the trunk. also changing the port opening and length will change your tuning.

took me a lil while to get my 30hz tuning.

I came up with 40"wide x 15"tall x 18"deep. It came out to be 4.2 cubic ft at 34.3 Hz. The port is 4" wide and like 22" for the length
