ok so right now i got a setup of 4 alpine type R's (6.5's) pic and stats below *btw its a multi channel amp* RMS Power (at 14.4V, 20Hz-20kHz) Per channel into 4 ohms: 50W x 4 (1% THD) Per channel into 2 ohms: 75W x 4 Brigded 4 ohms: 150W x 2 now the question is since that amp is a multi channel can i use the amp show below which is a mono amp to run my 12" alpine type R subwoofer which has a power of 1500w and a power of 500w (RMS), is it possible to link my multi channel amp which puts out 200w (RMS) at 4 ohms and link it to the mono channel amp which is 300w (RMS) at 4 ohms and power it that way or am i looking at a more powerful amp. Alls stats posted below for Mono Amp and Subwoofer: Note* picture looks like that one above basically: (Mono Amp) MRP-M500: RMS Power (at 14.4V, 20-200Hz) Per channel into 4 ohms: 300W x 1 (1% THD) Per channel into 2 ohms: 500W x 1 (Subwoofer) Power Handling Power Handling Capacity (RMS): 500W Power Handling Capacity (Peak): 1500W
ummmmm...... are you talking about wiring up the two amps to a single sub? or are you talking about chaining them with passthrough? the wattage of an amp plays no role in its passthroughs, the passthroughs are simply there to daisy chain amps together. (i guess i shouldnt use daisy chain as they are using passthroughs) but if the multi channel amp, and or the mono amp has a pass through then yes you should have no problem using a second RCA cable to link the two amps together. this will provide both amps with the audio signal. however, i dont think iam understanding the question, if you have a HU with RCA outs for front and rear and sub or sub only, it kind of depends on your HU. iam sorry iam rambling iam just kinda trying to figure out whats going on in the question.... EDIT. Ok i figured it out, yes with pass throughs you can link the two amps together if one supports passtrhoughs, with that you can power all subs/ speakers, however, you will be powering one set of the speakers lower than the the other ran off the more powerfull amp, the only degredation you will see is in the lower powered speakers, they just wont perform the same as the one/s on the higher amp. maybey iam just lost...
you got it right eleu. I wouldn't chain a sub amp and component amp together. Now if you had two sub amps then that would be a different story but they have to be able to be strapped.
to me it sounds like he wants to know if he can run the sub with 2 diff amps. the answer is no. not with those amps. its one or the other.
sorry i think i may have figured out the problem, my question made no sence at all so help me with this since i cant run both amps to power the sub. is the rule: 2 ohms goes with a (4ohm + 4ohm) cuz if that then i believe that i can just use the MRP-M500 at 2ohms and i will have just the right amount of power to run the sub at 4 ohm 500w (RMS). *sorry if i havent been making any sence lol. the first question i asked was dumb >.<
